GUIDES AND TIPS / MOTORCYCLE CARE

What a regular Royal Enfield service includes

A regular service is not a formality for a stamp in the service book. It is an inspection that catches small things before they become expensive repairs. And with a new motorcycle, keeping to the service intervals is also a condition of the warranty. So what is actually done during a service?

What a regular Royal Enfield service includes

Service intervals

Intervals are set by mileage or time – whichever comes first. The first service after the running-in period is especially important, because the oil containing metal particles from engine running-in is changed and a check is made of how everything has settled. You will find the exact schedule for your model in the service book.

What is checked and replaced

  • Engine oil and oil filter – replacement according to the schedule.
  • Air filter – inspection, cleaning or replacement.
  • Spark plugs – condition check, replacement according to the interval.
  • Valve clearance – inspection and adjustment if the schedule prescribes it.
  • Chain set – wear, tension, lubrication.
  • Brakes – pads, discs, fluid and hoses.
  • Clutch and cables – free play and smooth operation.
  • Tyres and wheels – pressure, tread, bearings.
  • Steering and suspension – play in the steering bearings, fork seal tightness.
  • Electrics – battery, charging, lights, switches.
  • Coolant on liquid-cooled models.

Diagnostics and software

A modern Royal Enfield has a control unit that stores fault records. During the service the motorcycle is connected to the diagnostic equipment, any faults are read out and, if the manufacturer has released an update, it is installed.

Recall campaigns and warranty repairs

A workshop experienced with Royal Enfield will check whether a manufacturer's service campaign applies to your motorcycle. If so, the repair is carried out during the service without any further effort on your part.

Why have it serviced by a Royal Enfield specialist

  • original parts and prescribed fluids,
  • mechanics experienced with Royal Enfield motorcycles,
  • an entry in the service history, which increases the value of the motorcycle when you sell it,
  • preservation of the warranty.

What to do before the service

Write down what feels wrong on the motorcycle – a sound, vibration, a warning light, anything unusual. It helps the mechanic a great deal. Bring the service book and the keys, including the spare one if the motorcycle has an immobiliser.

You can book a service at Royal Enfield GARAGE in Bohušovice nad Ohří. In the season we recommend booking in advance.
